Pacific
Greetings CANSI Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that we are offering some more courses, including some long awaited Telemark Programs. These courses are now open for registration. As usual we are offering early bird registration with a 20% discount in effect if you sign up 14 days or sooner prior to course start (see detailed list below).
This has been an unusual season, with the Olympics having a big impact in turns of venues and examiners being available as well as unusually warm temperatures on the Coast. As you can see, we will get caught up in March/ April. Thanks for your patience while we work through these challenges. All of our refreshers are free for active CANSI members this year and all courses can provide opportunities for retests or refresher, by prior consent of the course conductor.

The 2005-2006 season was a busy season for the Pacific Region. A number of courses were scheduled and run through out the province including a northern BC XC refresher in 100 Mile, a level 2 XC course in Smithers and a number of tele courses throughout the BC and the Yukon. It has been exciting to re-establish contact with northern communities and provide improved service to these areas. We have tried to utilize the Xcitation newsletter more in order to cut some of our mailing costs but still keep our members informed.

I knew I was a different place when I left the chrome and glass and urban Euro-bustle of Schipol Airport in Amsterdam and landed in Oslo, Norway. I was greeted at Gardermoen Airport with polished real wood floors, hewn beams and airport staff cruising around on push scooters instead of electric carts. This must be a nation that values natural environments and self-propelled locomotion! I had landed in the cradle of Nordic skiing. It had been a dream of mine since I discovered Telemark skiing to visit its birthplace and drink deeply of the mountain culture…
