Ontario Course Registration and Cancellation policies Posted on Dec 2nd, 2008

Ontario course registration and cancellation policies are similar over the past several seasons. Here is a reminder what they are for this winter and beyond.

The registration process and policies

  1. Upon registration your membership and certification status is automatically verified. That is, you must have current membership and the appropriate certification level before you can register for any Refresher or Certification courses Level II or higher.
  2. On-line payment processing is again handled by PayPal gateway. This payment provider is very security conscious (which is one of the main reasons why CANSI chose them). But that means, if you are paying by credit card, you need to enter a name, phone number and address that *matches exactly* with the credit card used for payment in order to be considered valid. Also, if you credit card was already associated with some PayPal personal or business account, you will be asked to use that PayPal account instead of the credit card directly. (For more information see this PayPal article.)
  3. If none of the listed courses fit your schedule, or you do not wish to register and pay online for these courses, please contact the XC or Telemark Programs Director or any of the Ontario local area course coordinators listed on the Ontario's contact page.
  4. Early registration fees are about 20% off the regular price and apply at least 2 weeks before start of the course.

The cancellation process and policies

  1. To request a cancellation of your registration, you need to send an email to course-cancellation@ontario.cansi.ca and include your registration information along with the reasons for your request.
  2. Refunds will be given less a handling fee (around 20% of the course cost) only if cancellation requests are received at least 7 days before the course starts.
  3. No refunds will be given if cancellations are received less than 7 days before start of the course.
  4. If a course has to be canceled by CANSI Ontario (such as due to insufficient number of registrants or due to poor snow conditions) every effort will be made to move the course and its registrants to another date during the same winter. If that is not possible, full refund will be given to each registered course participant.
  5. All refunds will be given only at the end of the season (but no later than April) and generally using the same payment method as the one you used to register for the course.
