Ontario 2008 Annual General Meeting (Updated) Posted on Jul 9th, 2008
Ontario's 2008 Annual General Meeting (AGM), the final wrap up event for the 2007-2008 season, was held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 3 p.m. in the Swansea Town Hall in Toronto's Bloor West Village.
The meeting was followed by a social dinner at the Grenadier Restaurant in High Park, compliments of CANSI Ontario.
CANSI Ontario values and celebrates the contributions of its Members. Consequently, again at this AGM we planned to give awards for best instructor, course conductor, volunteer, and life achievement contribution. This last award has been renamed Mike Moran's award, to honour Mike's major contributions to Nordic skiing.
No nominees for awards were made up to the time of the awards at the AGM. During the AGM, however, the following were voted on and awarded:
- Garry Almond & Glenn Lee - Volunteers of the Year
For their major efforts in organizing the National Seminars and AGM, and for their ongoing management and contributions to the www.cansi.ca website and the backend CANSI LMS (Learning Management System). - Paul Graner - Course Conductor of the Year
For developing and mentoring a growing number of CANSI instructors in the Ottawa area. - Clare Magee - Mike Moran's Life Time Achievement Award
For his patience, passion, thoughtfulness and caring when teaching and mentoring many students and instructors throughout his 25+ year in CANSI.
As CANSI Ontario members you should know who has made a significant contribution to cross country (XC) and Telemark instruction in your community. Please tell us who you think deserves to be recognized as Instructor of the Year. Send your recommendations to info@ontario.cansi.ca.
At each AGM we elect directors and officers for CANSI Ontario. After six years of tireless work, Jan Vopalensky is stepping down as President of CANSI Ontario, but will remain on the board. We would like to thank Jan for his ongoing contributions to CANSI.
The positions filled at this year's AGM for the 2008-2009 season are:
- Finance Director - Joseph Ferri
- Cross Country (XC) Programs Director - Jan Vopalensky
- Cross Country (XC) Technical Director - Paul Jorgensen
- Telemark Programs Director and Telemark Technical Director - Glenn Lee
- National Board delegate - Garry Almond
We were unable to fill the positions for:
- President
- Communications Director
As you can see from last year's Ontario AGM, the current Ontario board is short of 2 directors and is looking for some new faces to help CANSI Ontario flourish in years to come. Get in touch with us at info@ontario.cansi.ca to find out how you can get involved.
