CANSI PACIFIC is pleased to be able to offer financial assistance to aspiring ski instructors and course conductors who demonstrate a commitment and enthusiasm to cross-country and telemark skiing.

There are five $200 scholarships available for the 2008 season.

Criteria:

• Candidate must have a current CANSI membership and be an active instructor in the Pacific Region;
• Only one scholarship will be granted per member, per season;
• Preference will be given to applicants who already have their first level of certification and are registered to take a Cross-Country Level ll, lll, and lV and Telemark Level ll and lll certification;
• The Board will assess each application in its individual merits, with an emphasis on the following criteria: financial need, commitment to the sport, and a desire to become a CANSI course conductor.
• A maximum of two (2) scholarships will be granted on a given course;
• The scholarship request is subject to space availability at the time of registration.

Procedure:

Applicants are asked to submit the following documentation in a letter format:

• The exact course date and location you are applying for;
• A letter outlining your skiing accomplishments as well as your current and long-term educational and ski teaching goals;
• Financial need is a consideration, so please briefly explain why this is applies to you. (ie - set out your annual income, tuition costs, or employment history - any relevant information you would like the Board to consider)
• Letter of reference from the instructor's Snow School Director and/or Club Head Coach, or equivalent;
• ALL requests must be received at least 14 days prior to the start date of the course;
• Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

The CANSI PACIFIC Board will evaluate applications at the regular Board meetings (generally once a month) and make the determinations for granting the scholarships. Please do not expect an immediate response as to whether your scholarship has been granted.

If your application is approved, you will be notified in writing, by email, of the Board's decision.

The funds will be sent to you within two weeks of CANSI PACIFIC's fiscal year end (April 30, 2008) to the mailing address on your application letter.
