Telemark Instructors Wanted - Ottawa Area Posted on Jan 3rd, 2008
Freeheelers United (FHU) is the largest community of Telemark Skiers serving Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. We are seeking new instructors to add to our roster and would appreciate hearing from you
Freeheelers United started in the winter of 2004/2005 to serve as both a ski school and community for local Telemark skiers. We offer Telemark Ski instruction as well as community activities and events. In addition to our regular course instruction (by certified CANSI instructors) we also organize social events, run a community web site and promote the sport through demo nights. We work with local retailers and sports
enthusiasts to promote the sport of Telemark Skiing while providing a means for new people to adopt the sport.
Requests for lessons are coming in strong for the 2007/2008 ski season. FHU has an updated website at http://freeheelers.net . This is where Telemark skiers can obtain information concerning lessons and also includes a discussion forum. We have added a utility that helps organize the booking of events and lessons. We are also considering using an on-line payment method for people to pay for lessons.
Freeheelers United benefits from new instructors as it allows us to fulfill the needs of our local Telemark community.
FHU Instructors benefit by increasing their profile, gaining more instructing experience, and by organizing more courses by reaching a larger Telemark crowd. Instructors also have the option to announce and instruct as many courses as they wish.
We are seeking instructors that wish to offer courses at any of the local ski hills in and
around the National Capital Region.
We have no exclusivity agreement. Therefore, FHU courses will compliment any other endeavours you may have, and won't limit your prospects as a CANSI instructor. It is our goal to offer enough benefits for instructors that they voluntarily want to return and instruct more courses.
Please, check out our ski school information at http://Freeheelers.net
We hope to hear from you at your earliest possible convenience.
Sincerely,
Dave Sampson

What does it take to be an instructor 'cause I've been on pins for a few years and I'm not an expert but have been instructed by some hot knee dippers?

See http://www.cansi.ca/en/membership/disciplines/#telemark for a short video by Keith Nicol that describes the CANSI telemark progression, and the type of skiing that is required.

I'm looking for instructors or instructor-like tele skiers to hire for a few lessons. Does anyone know where I should be looking?
