Ontario Summer 2006 News (by Anne McRuer) Posted on Oct 1st, 2006
I am your new Communications Director. My role is to keep you up to date on the goings on of CANSI and how it supports you doing the sport you love.
The Ontario board held its Annual General Meeting in the middle of May. We wrapped up the details of the 2005-06 season and talked about our future.
The board membership for this season is:
Jan Vopalensky, President & acting XC Programs Director (president@ontario.cansi.ca)
Anne McRuer, Communications Director (communications@ontario.cansi.ca)
Steve Gentles, XC Technical Director (xc-technical@ontario.cansi.ca)
Glenn Lee, Telemark Technical and Programs Director (telemark@ontario.cansi.ca)
Joseph Ferri, Finance Director (finance@ontario.cansi.ca)
Paul Graner, Advisor and National Board member (advisor1@ontario.cansi.ca)
Garry Almond, Advisor and National Web Project manager (advisor2@ontario.cansi.ca)
The position of XC Programs director is vacant.
This programs director oversees the delivery and administration of CANSI Ontario's certification program. In co-ordination with the XC Technical Directors, they implements changes to the certification program and is also responsible for the planning and implementation of specific courses, such as women's or youth leader development courses. Specifically, it involves working with resorts to set up and coordinate the courses, booking course coordinators and sharing this information for publication through the CANSI channels.
The organization continues to grow from an all time low in 2001.
It is an organization for members, by members. Your participation on the board would be very welcomed. Currently we are looking for a member at large. Like any board position, you are part of a team. Its not a place for talkers, but where you can set your self some goals and with the support of the group, make contribution the sport you love.
This is not a life sentence but an opportunity to create something that will work better for all its members.

Please welcome Nancy Crump to the Ontario board. She has gracefully volunteered to look after our XC Programs. On Oct. 18, 2006 (during one of the Ontario's monthly board meetings) Nancy was officially voted in as the Ontario XC Programs Director for 2006-2007.
You can contact Nancy by sending an email to xc@ontario.cansi.ca or by selecting the extension #1 when calling the CANSI Ontario's automated attendant phone number 416-410-0827 (or the toll-free number 1-888-226-7446).
But please keep in mind that she is a volunteer and you will be reaching her home - not an office. Hence, please refrain calling her during the night (10 pm to 8 am) in EST zone.
