Greetings CANSI Ontario Members

With our AGM next Saturday and all the ski gear stowed for the summer here is a summary of what has happened over the season just past. Of course all are welcome at the AGM/Barbeque in Toronto, May 13, 1-4 p.m. (BBQ) & 4:00 p.m. (AGM). Please email communications@ontario.cansi.ca for directions or call 888-226-7446 ext 9

On the snow, it was a modest year with some difficult weather conditions and some late season cancellations. 16 courses were delivered between the two disciplines resulting in 24 new certifications and 18 refreshed. 1 member advanced to Level II and 5 had their course fees 100% covered by the youth grant program. The new PD days were successful in attendance and very well received by the participants. Do your best to attend at least one of these sessions next year and see what the buzz is about.

Our finances are in good shape and were well organized and documented this year. A full report will be presented to the AGM and available on line for your perusal.

Throughout the year the National tech committee has held its meetings to refine and update our methods and procedures. Over the last two years their efforts have interlocked with the update of our manual and the "Skiing Your Best" DVD. Both projects are now near completion so many thanks are due to all who have contributed to this important committee.

Overshadowing everything else of course is the progress on construction of the new web portal. All preparation is complete and work has begun on the project. Now national in scope, this Ontario region initiative will fundamentally change everything we do off snow and greatly facilitate the real work of delivering instruction. We are fortunate to have the knowledgeable and intelligent volunteers that have moved this forward in such a professional manner. Members will be enabled to input and interact a lot more in the future so consider becoming a list monitor for taking up some other small chores. Ultimately it is the members that will make this the great thing it can be.

If you have any questions or comments that you would like put before the AGM please make them known to any director or show up and speak.

Detailed director's reports can be found under the Ontario AGM 2006 shared folder in the [cansi-news] NPO group (login is required).

Wishing all a great Summer and Fall…
